How many tons can a bridge crane be overloaded?

2022-01-10 13:38

Overloading a bridge crane is not allowed. Overloading will cause stress and damage to the equipment and pose a safety hazard to operators and workers. It is prohibited to lift weights exceeding the rated load on any equipment. Bridge cranes should always be used in accordance with specifications and instructions, and do not attempt to lift loads exceeding the rated lifting capacity of the crane.
Most bridge cranes now have safety devices to help prevent crane-related accidents. The following introduces what safety devices are available for bridge cranes and the functions of these safety devices.

The types of safety devices for bridge cranes are mainly electrical safety devices and mechanical safety devices.

1. The electrical safety devices of bridge cranes are:

1. Lighting switch box: lighting at the work site provides better operating vision for electric bridge crane operators.

2. Electric crane bell: The main function is to remind the operator under the crane to avoid or remind the hoisting worker to start the crane when the trolley is running.

3. Travel limit switch: The function is to prevent accidents caused by the mechanical overrun driven by the motor when the crane runs to the specified location.

4. Emergency switch: installed next to the driver's cab, so that the driver can easily and quickly cut off the power supply of the control circuit in the event of an accident or emergency.

5. Door cabin safety switch: installed at the door and hatch to prevent the driver from blindly supplying power when someone goes up and down the crane or works on the crane platform.

6. Anemometer: The main function is to cut off the power supply when the wind is strong to prevent the electric crane from being blown away by the wind and unable to stop when working in strong winds, causing safety accidents. (Mostly installed on bridge cranes and gantry cranes used in the open air)

7. Fuse: used to protect the control circuit from short circuit.

8. Phase sequence protector: mainly protects the phase sequence of the main power supply. After the crane is debugged, the main power supply cannot be turned around at will, otherwise it will cause the electric crane to run reversely and the limit device to fail.

9. Overcurrent relay: protect the main line and motor from overload and short circuit.

10. Zero position contact of the controller: protect zero position start, and prevent the upper controller handle from being able to supply power when it is in the working position. Make the motor run automatically and cause an accident.

11. Overload limiter: Its main function is to cut off the crane's rising circuit when the object hoisted by the bridge crane exceeds the rated lifting weight of the crane to ensure the safety of the crane.
